Juxtaposition

Above is a contact print of all the images which i took for this task of buildings together which showed juxtaposition.I didn't really find this task interesting as there wasn't that many buildings to photograph which had a new/old building behind it to show juxtaposition.

This is the first image which i took for this task. This in my opinion is my best example of juxtaposition.I chose to photograph in Centenary square as I knew there was a range of old and new buildings which would be good for this task. I like the way in this image, the new building stands out more because of the material used and you can tell it is new in contrast with the old because of the shape of both of the buildings are different which shows how things have changed overtime.

In this photo, i captured an old building which was in front of a new building. This photo didn't really turn out how i wanted it to as i wanted to capture more of the new building behind as you cant really see it in the photo because of the angle i was at and because of the sign and tree in front of it. You can tell in this photo that there are no similarities between the 2 buildings. For example, the old building has a different structure as it has columns and the material is all the same colour . In comparison to the new, the new has a lot of colour and glass in it.

This was my third image which i took. I don't really like this photo either as i was stood at the wrong angle to capture it effectively. It was annoying that the old building had scaffolding on as it ruins the shot a bit, but i think it makes the shot quite effective as you can see the old building is going to get transformed. The alhambra isn't really a new building however in a way it is because it has been done up on the outside to make it look new.

This was my final image i took. I don't like this image as i think i was stood too close to the buildings when taking the shot so it didn't work out. The new building is on the right and the old on the left,i don't think this shot was effective because of the lighting on the buildings making them look too dark in areas. I wouldn't shoot this location again because i don't think its effective enough to realise that it is juxtaposition.
