Task 1a- research

Runner in Hudson River Park, NYC, New York
This is a contemporary photo called 'runner in Hudson, River Park, NYC. This photo was taken in 2012 by a photographer called Kim Olson. Looking at this image, in my opinion it looks like it is a single image. This image looks like it has been taken digitally. It looks like this shot has been taken when a person is running very fast and the camera has followed the runner with the camera which makes the runner look blurry and in movement, whilst the background stays the same.I think that the time the image was taken influences the different techniques that can be used when taking a shot as there would be a wide variety of techniques you could use.
This is a historical image called ' Animal Locomotion'. This photo was taken in 1887 by a photographer called Eadweard Muybridge. Looking at this image, this photo looks like a multiple of images which have been taken each time a movement is taken so the gymnast is in a different position . This image has been taken in a conventional way because of the amount of images used and their layout. I think the images were taken in this way as it may have been the only way of displaying photos and the cheapest way. In this time in which the photo was taken, black and white may have been the only way to print photos out.

This is a historical image called ' Behind the Gare Saint Lazare' . This photo was taken in 1932 by a photographer called Henri Cartier Brensson. Looking at this image , this photo looks like a single image or maybe a composite image to make the runner look darker in the photo. This image has been taken in black and white . I think that this is in black and white because it is a historical image and the majority of historical images are in black and white as that was the only resource in those days.
This is a contemporary photo called 'Shinjuku# Esteban Pastorino Diaz'. This photo was taken in 2005 by a photographer called Esteban Pastorino. Looking at this image, this photo is a long exposure because of the building in the background seem stretched out. This image has been taken in colour . I think that because the image was taken in the year 2000, so more techniques were available to use when taking a photo so the quality of them were more professional.
