Final evaluation

Overall i found some of the tasks in this project interesting and others not so interesting and others quite challenging. In this project i learnt a lot more about photoshop as there were a lot of tasks which were to be completed on photoshop and others which were to be completed in the darkroom. I had done both of these before in the previous units however my skills were developing as i learnt more about both of them. In this evaluation i'm not going to talk about every single task i did as there are a lot because i covered 2 units.

Firstly, task 1 which was my first task, i had to explore different aspects of architecture which were; line, shape, form, texture, scale and lighting. I found this quite challenging photographing buildings which had at least one of these in them however managed to complete this even though i did this in the same location which was Bradford around near college.

Secondly, my second task i believe was juxtaposition. Before this task i didn't know what juxtaposition was and i actually found this task quite easy. I took my shoots in Bradford, mainly down near town as there were more old and new buildings which were next to each other.

I found a few of the tasks i did challenging. These being; Hockney Joiner and panorama. These were both completed on photoshop which i find challenging because i don't know how to do a lot of things on it which are useful when  doing your work to improve it, but i am improving as i am learning new techniques on it as i do different tasks using it.

I found the Hockney Joiner the hardest to do, i found it stressful because you had to fit all your pictures together to make the location which you were shooting your pictures from. I had to delete a lot of my images as they didn't fit when i came to joining them up.

The panaroma was easier than the joiner however i still found it tricky as there was a lot of things you had to do on photoshop to make it into a panorama. I found it frustrating having to feather the images to help them fit together and if you didn't shoot right then your images wouldn't stitch together properly. I had this problem as i shot on automatic rather than manual which made my exposure change which you could notice in the sky as it changed colour.

A task which i enjoyed is the colour film shoot which was when i went on a trip to Leeds. For the colour shoot i had to take shoots of new architecture.I took my shoots inside trinity as this is a new building which has a lot of new structures and shops inside which i also went in to take some of my shoots.

Another task which i enjoyed was overlaying textures . I found this more interesting than the borders because the texture covered the whole of the image and you could choose which texture you think would work well.My favourite image which i wrote about was the one of trinity roof with the leaf texture over it.

Finally the last task which i enjoyed was colour popping. I really liked this task as i found it made your image look more interesting to look at.The images which i chose were some of my favourite shots which i had taken. I liked this task because you could colour pop areas of your choice so you could be as creative as you wanted to be.

I didn't manage to complete my darkroom work as i was ill when i went in.I have scanned my images which i took on black and white film and my colour film images which i have put onto my blog.

A final task which i took place in was the exhibition task. I was in the poster and leaflets group so it is our group's job to design these for the night of the exhibition so people know more about the event. For this it was important to communicate with members of my group so i knew what i had to do. The poster is complete which 2 of my members designed and asked other members of other groups first what they thought of it and if everything had been included. Me and another member have been finding out about leaflets and what needs to be included so it is clear to people when it comes to making it where the event is, what it is, why we are doing it, who is being involved, and when it is. It is important we include these facts as they are the most important thing so people are clear about the event. I have also been researching a bit into the charity which the money will be going to, as well as researching i have spoken to the research group to find more info out about the charity which which will be included in the leaflet so people know where their money is going to.

In conclusion i quite enjoyed this unit, if i was to do it again i would improve some of my images and maybe re-shoot them to make them better.
